Special Events

Monks Road Methodist Church aims to be here for you and your family throughout your life, and that includes providing a venue and support when planning special events such as Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.

We also offer a place for you to host parties and small gatherings in our hall, which you can hire from as little as £10 per hour.

Weddings

If you are looking to get married at Monks Road Methodist Church, you will need to contact us so that our minister can arrange to have a chat with you. He will want to discuss the plans for your wedding, and why you wish to get married in our church. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you have.

Baptisms and Infant Thanksgiving Services

If you are thinking of having your child baptised, or are wishing to be baptised as an adult, the first step is to contact us to have a chat with our minister about what it involves. This will give you a chance to ask any questions you may have, and allows our minister to explain the baptism service to you.

If either you or the minister decide a baptism isn’t quite right for you (e.g. you want your child to be able to choose to be baptised when they are old enough to understand what it means), then we also offer Infant Thanksgiving services.

Confirmation as a Member of the Methodist Church

As adults there is the option to be confirmed and accepted as a member of the Methodist Church. This can be carried out at the same time as an adult baptism for those who have not been baptised as a child. Confirmation is an act of reaffirming your faith and acknowledging your place as a member of your local congregation. You can read more about baptism and confirmation on the Methodist Church’s website.

Over the past few years we have had several adult baptisms and confirmations within our church. If you are considering this for yourself please come along to our services and speak to our minister.

Funerals and Services of Thanksgiving

If you are organising a funeral or thanksgiving service for a loved one, we are very sorry for your loss. You are more than welcome to come to any of our services, if you feel this may be helpful during this difficult time.

Please contact us to talk to our minister about arranging a funeral at our church, or if you wish for him to hold a service at the Crematorium.
